The types and significance of discoveries happening today in neuroscience can be compared to those of Einstein in Physics. His theories fundamentally changed the way we looked at the world just as neuroscience is doing today.

Trying to improve how you lead without factoring in the brain would be like trying to lose weight without changing what you eat. You might see some short-term results but it will take substantially more effort and the results will likely be fleeting.

Consumers want the best product, at a better value, delivered yesterday. Employees want to make an immediate impact, do things their own way, and have personal meaning in their work. This calls people to bring their best day every day to deliver breakthrough results.

WHAT'S THE ISSUE?
We need to stop desperately trying to externally motivate others to do their job better to meet today's expectations, as the brain will never feel like taking on anything hard, uncertain, or new. That's why so often when we set a lofty goal (e.g. new years resolution to run every morning), we either don't actually start, or fall short of it quickly. The brain knows there is a higher chance of failure over success, looks at it as a threat, and works to shut it down.

WHAT INSTEAD?
Do better. We must leverage the intrinsic powers of our brain so it has a personal stake in something with meaning and purpose. When we feel pulled internally by something (versus just setting a goal for something we should do), this is when we experience meaningful breakthroughs with results that last.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER
After spending 15 years in management consulting working with fortune 500 companies to increase their bottom line, Sara took a sabbatical to pursue her dream to focus solely on the people component of business. Upon completion of her master’s degree and coaching certification, she had the opportunity to go back and craft her passion as a discipline with Accenture employees and clients.

Providing newfound awareness on the brain - and guiding people to meaningful results - is her sweet spot. She has spent the better part of the last 10 years using Neuroscience as the basis for how to coach, develop, and inspire people.
